Piezo Inkjet Printing Inks
Kao offers numerous inks for widely-used piezo industrial inkjet printers, which utilize a drop-on-demand (DOD) technology that ejects ink using a mechanical process. Piezo printing systems accommodate a comprehensive range of ink types.
Inks for Piezo DOD Inkjet Printers
Kao inks for piezo DOD inkjet printers are available for use with most piezo printheads:
Water-based inks produce extremely low amounts of emissions. They are among the most eco-friendly and cost-effective inks available to the industrial inkjet printing market.
One of our most popular aqueous inks for Piezo DOD industrial printers is LUNAJET, an eco-friendly inkjet ink for flexible films and other non-porous materials.
Kao produces standard CMYK set oil-based inks and custom and spot colours for Piezo printheads. These inks are widely used for printing corrugated cardboard and heavy-weight paperboard.
Bio-based Mineral-Oil-Free Inks (MOF)
Bio-based MOF inks from Kao offer eco-conscious solutions for piezo inkjet printing technology that meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations. They are designed as an alternative to oil-based formula. These oil-free inks help industrial printers meet compliance requirements for increasingly strict legislation and environmental regulations worldwide.
Solvent Based Inks
Our solvent‑based inks for piezo systems deliver rich black and durable, vibrant colours, whether used for marking, coding, barcode printing, or wide-format printing. Our solvent‑based inks print on difficult and rugged substrates, like certain metals, plastics, and other non-porous substrates.
LED Curable Inks
Kao offers a large selection of high-speed LED inks for printing with Piezo industrial printheads. Formulated as a low-energy, low-heat, and eco-friendly ink option, our signature Tesla LED curable ink provides an alternative to more traditional curable inks that use arc lamps.
UV Curable Inks
UV-curable inks for industrial piezo inkjet printers offer high-quality colour versatility and durability unrivalled by most other inks. If standard UV-curable inks don’t provide the performance characteristics or requirements that you’re seeking, Kao can create customised UV-curable ink solutions that are formulated to meet your printing needs specifically.
EB Curable Inks
Our EB-curable inks for piezo printing systems are formulated as a safe, cost-efficient, durable, and reliable alternative to UV-curable and LED-curable inks. Rather than curing the solution with light energy until it becomes a solid with high durability, electron beam (EB) ink technology rapidly changes the ink’s chemical composition and penetrates the substrate, creating better adhesion.
By Piezo Printhead Technology
Dimatix Inkjet Technology
The single-pass Dimitix-Fujifilm printheads can be configured or manufactured to the width of the substrate being printed. Key printing segments include packaging, signage, and textiles.
Konica Minolta Inkjet Technology
Both single-pass and scanning printers, Konica-based printers meet the increasing demand for short-run textile and fabric printing using inks suited for natural or synthetic fabrics.
Kyocera Inkjet Technology
Among the fastest in the industry, Kyocera systems are used for a range of printing, including labels, wide-format signage, and textiles.
Ricoh Inkjet Technology
The versatile Ricoh technology offers solutions for printing billboard signage, textiles, decor, labels, and packaging.
SII Printek Inkjet Technology
The Seiko company produces printheads suitable for the full range of printing applications, including ceramic tiles, textiles, wood, cardboard, wallpaper, and more. SII Printek printheads can handle UV-curable, water-based, solvent-based, and oil-based fluids.
Xaar Inkjet Technology
Xaar focuses on the packaging sector and the growing interest in direct-to-shape packaging printing. Xaar printheads handle a wide range of ink fluids for printing on various substrates, from wood to metal.
Kao formulates and manufactures water-based, pigment polymer, UV-curable and EB-curable inkjet inks for the Kao’s X-BAR print module, which is used for retrofitting Kodak Versamark CIJ modules. Based on MEMs technology, this new module prints at faster speeds and at a much higher resolution.
Supporting Piezo Printing Applications
Piezo inkjet printers are used for these typical industrial printing applications:
- Four-colour (CMYK) Labels
- Billboards and other wide-format signage
- Direct-to-product labelling
Standard Inks and Custom Formulations
Please browse our catalogue of standard inks for piezo printing systems. If you’re unsure which ink is best for your application, please send us a sample of your substrate. An ink technician will promptly and thoroughly evaluate your needs and make an ink recommendation to match the printhead model and substrate.
If one of our standard inks doesn’t meet your needs, our experienced chemists will customise one that will meet your requirements and specifications.
